I never thought I would see a telephone pole as a thing of beauty - but when it's holding up the wires bringing electricity my new house, it's spectacular! The next most beautiful thing is the newly installed HVAC, which is currently humming away and keeping the house warm and cozy for the painters. And we can finally unplug the 300 feet of extension cord that's been running from our front porch to the house.
One thing that Scott and I had dreamed of was having a cable railing system on the back deck - which means instead of having wooden slats that block the view, the deck railing would consist of metal cable strung between the deck posts. Our dream went out the window when we found out the cost of the materials, but thanks to our builder's ingenuity, he's constructing it for us at less than half the cost.
