Wires and Pipes and Doors and Drama

It's been over a month since my last post and things have been moving slowly....as usual. Our builder has been working on another house while we had our mechanicals completed. We are almost completely dried in and should have the last of the windows and the metal roof installed this week. The plumbing and electric has been inspected and approved!
But....isn't there always a "but"? Our builder notified us Friday that one of his 4-member crew quit. So it looks like there'll be some things that get subcontracted and our new completion date has been pushed back a month to December 1. And to be honest, I'll be surprised if we're in before Christmas. At least I won't have to worry about decorating because ALL of our Christmas decorations are in storage!
And for anyone who's planning to build a house....don't pray for dry weather! We had several weather delays but now we can't buy a drop of rain. Like a lot of folks in this area, we are in drought conditions with no rain in sight and we're still having 90 degree days into October. My tomato plants are still hanging in there, but our poor dirt yard is not even beginning to settle and Scott is clearing trees (gotta have a view of the pond ;-) but we're not allowed to burn anything  Someone do a rain dance please!

The roof is ready for completion and doors and side deck are now in (just a little more deck to add)! Only a couple more windows and we're completely dried in!

View including the sunroom - already my favorite room in the house

Inside the sunroom looking out the front of the house

Front door! Now the discussion begins on what color to paint it :-)

Never though I'd be this excited to see electrical wires and blue boxes. This is our "TV wall" in the living room (behind is the master and the sunroom)

Some friends of ours work for a company that documents commercial construction projects through photos and videos. We're inspired to do the same and I've photographed every little mundane detail for posterity and future reference. Thanks Chris!

Flat ground is hard to come by in this neck of the woods - the perfect place for a walkout basement. It doesn't look too bad in this picture, but dang that hill gets steep after you walk up and down it a few times!
