Decks and Porches and Patios...oh my!
The two questions that occupy my mind when I'm driving home from work each day are "I wonder what they did today?" and "Am I gonna meet a ginormous truck on my driveway and have to back out of the holler?" The first answer is always fun, the second one I've learned to live with. And yes, I've had to back out of the holler on a couple of occasions :-)The majority of the work lately has been on the exterior - the septic system, front porch, back patio, and back deck. We are hoping to have roof trusses in a couple of weeks.
Scott and I spent a Saturday in Lexington looking at floors and tiles. As of now, we've got all the floors selected except the bathroom floor tile. Cabinet and countertop selections are also finalized. And we've finally selected a siding - board and batten!! The majority of the current cabin is board and batten and I have always loved the look.
Now we're left with a ton of smaller decisions like plumbing fixtures, etc. Just for grins one day I went online to look at bathroom sink faucets. Wayfair had six THOUSAND different options. Okay, I exaggerate, the actual number was 5,963. For faucets. For only the bathroom. And that's just one place. Wish us luck.

That's a lot of deck!!

Front porch done! This will have one step down that will go all the way around the porch.

I thought this was pretty cool - this is not wood, it's cement. The wood grain is the impression left by the frame. Too bad it'll be covered up with a step.

Septic is fully inspected and approved!
Today's moment of zen is a quick sweep through the house and then onto the new back deck and taking in our new view - turn up the volume :-)
