We have plumbing!
Well, the start of it anyway! Not much has been visibly going on in the last week or so, but things got a jump start yesterday when the plumber showed up and lay the pipe for our water and drains. Not to mention that they have now dug the footer for the front half of the house so we can see the outline of the whole house.
Thanks to JFK, we do not have to dig a well! Just a little history lesson (yes, I'm a geek); the Appalachian Regional Commission was created by President Kennedy in 1963, and sometime in the 70s, they funded a water project that brought clean water to impoverished regions in Appalachian coal counties such as Elliott. So we have water courtesy of Rowan Water Company! No well, no water pump, no problem. That brings back memories of growing up and every time the power went out we couldn't use our water - I can still hear my mom yelling at me from the kitchen "Don't flush the toilet!"

Since there's nothing much else going on, I think we could all use a moment of zen courtesy of a summer evening in my dooryard. Feel free to turn the volume up!
